Sheriff Darren Campbell: On Friday, February 17, 2023, Cody Allen Wright was sentenced by United States District Judge Kenneth D. Bell to 20 Years in Federal Prison for Felony Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. In addition to this sentence, Cody Allen Wright will serve the remainder of his life under court supervision and must register as a Sex Offender after he is released from prison.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Investigators began the investigation in June of 2020 when they received multiple cyber tips about Wright. 

A search warrant was executed at Wright’s residence located at 185 Little Creek Road near Mooresville. Inside the home, investigators located two cell phones, a laptop computer, and other electronic devices. All of these items were seized as evidence.

A forensic search and analysis of the devices revealed between December 2019 and June 2020 Wright possessed over 1,500 electronic files that contained images and videos of children, some of whom were under 12 years old being sexually abused. 

SENTENCED TO 240 MONTHS (20 YEARS) IN FEDERAL PRISON.
