NEWS RELEASE
On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tony Oxendine was awarded the Farm Bureau Deputy of the Month Award at the WSIC Radio Station.
Deputy Oxendine started his career in law enforcement career in 2014 at the Iredell County Detention Center. He then transitioned to a School Resource Officer. To ensure the Deputies protecting our children every day are highly trained for a medical emergency, Sheriff Darren Campbell has started the initiative for all School Resource Officers to take the 96-hour Emergency Medical Responder training course. Deputy Oxendine, along with several others, have completed this training.
This training was successfully put into action when Deputy Oxendine performed CPR on a patient that was unresponsive while off-duty at Wal-Mart. Thanks to his training and quick actions the patient regained a pulse and began breathing again.
